I'm thinking about buying a 1997 Firebird....?

I found one for cheap, and I'm kinda in love. It's bright red, with the only problem being that it needs a new shock mount. But I know nothing what so ever about cars. Would this car be too much for me? Also, I'm on a tight budget, so would it require a huge investment having work done to it?
